’Yomi DARAMOLA has been a Reader (Associate Professor) in the Department of Music, Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U.), Ile-Ife, Nigeria, since 2010. He holds a B.A. degree in Music with First Class Honours, an M.A. degree in Music and a Ph.D (Music) degree respectively from O.A.U., Ile-Ife, Nigeria. His areas of research interest include Traditional African Music, Music of the Mass Culture, Proverb Studies, and Islamic and Islamised Music. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Texas, Arlington, U.S.A., in 2008. From August 2009 to July 2010, he was the Acting Head, Department of Music, and Vice-Dean, Faculty of Arts, O.A.U., from August 2010 to July 2012. He is a Founding Member of the African Proverbs and Phraseology Society (AFRICAPPS) and the Assistant Secretary of the Society.
